Lots of people think that Christmas is the best time of the year but the lead up can be very stressful especially to the people who are spending it alone without anyone to buy presents for or to even sit down and have a meal with. Well that was my Christmas twice in a row I didn’t have any family to spend it with or anyone to have over to have some food with me. I would try to keep in the Christmas spirit by having the food and also playing some songs as well, but it wasn’t the same as being able to wake up to someone and see the smile of their face while opening the thoughtful gifts I wrapped for them.
Sadly I don’t have a parent to spend Christmas with either so I was alone but I wasn’t completely by myself as I had my dogs and cats to keep me company which acted as a nice silver lining from all the stress and depressive symptoms flaring up.
The point of me writing this isn’t to have people feel sorry for me or try to get that sympathy vote, its to let people know that sometimes giving a neighbour a card or even a slice of Christmas cake can go a long way. Just remember to be kind to others and that the little things can caused a big positive impact of their life.
